A Chicken with Three Hearts?

Chicken hearts are one of our family’s favorite treats, but there never seems to be enough to go around.  After all, each chicken typically is only equipped with just one.  Every time we buy a chicken, we rotate through who gets to eat this particular morsel.  So imagine Katy’s surprise when she opened up a chicken and found…. not one, not two… but three hearts!   While the math got complicated dividing the four of us by three hearts, it was still a welcome event to have more snacks to go around.

(Before you worry about the nature of these strange chickens we are eating, rest assured, it was a completely normal chicken.  The birds we buy have been cleaned and then the good innards put back inside.  Seems a unknowingly benevolent worker put a few extra hearts into our particular chicken.)  

In many ways, this little event can illustrate our time here so far.  Things are rarely as they seem, and there are surprises around every corner.   We’re thankful that God is allowing us to work in such a interesting place.  We look forward to what God continues to do here.
