March 2016
A lot has happened in the last few months! We took a trip to the southern part of Senegal with our host family for a wedding over Christmas. To see pictures of the trip you can check out these posts: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.
Another big event was moving in with our African host family. We prayed about this decision for several months and became convinced it was what God had for us. This life change is already helping us and the kids progress in French. We are also growing in our understanding of how life here works day by day and we’re learning many new skills that will make our transition to village life easier.
Speaking of village life….we’ve been talking and praying about working with the Vigue people group in Burkina Faso. When our field leadership posed this idea to us, we were very excited! Two missionary ladies already in Burkina are planning on moving into a Vigue village this year. God provided an opportunity for us to talk face-to-face with them, when they came to Senegal for a workshop. This means that our tentative plan is to finish French and culture study here in Senegal, move to Burkina and learn some of the Jula language (a widely spoken language in Burkina) in a town, then move into a Vigue village.
Cameron leaves for a trip to the south eastern corner of Senegal tomorrow morning to help with some repairs to a fellow missionary’s house and equipment. We’re thankful for this opportunity to help out in the work God is doing there.
Thank you all for your prayers and encouragements! To hear from us more frequently you can check out our blog.
In Christ,
