Moving…it’s the story of my life. In my (Katy) 31 years on earth I’ve lived in:
- 4 countries
- 5 states
- 11 towns
- Don’t feel like counting up the number of houses
On top of that, as we look to our future, more moving is coming up. If you read our email update, you’ll know we’re moving to a different country in West Africa.
In my sinfulness, I start becoming jealous of those who get to settle down in one place and just stay there. I start feeling sorry for myself and of course that leads to me being miserable. I want to cling to whatever is steady and permanent. Then I remember the only one thing that truly is unchanging and that’s my God. The more I feel unsettled, the more I desire His stability. The verses that talk about His steadfastness are the ones that stand out to me.
I am reminded that He is my:
- Rock
- Fortress
- Shepherd
- Unchanging Father
- Anchor
Pray that I won’t grow weary, but keep my eyes fixed on Christ and throw off all the sin and weight that weighs me down and run for that prize, the everlasting prize, that won’t fade or get lost, the prize of being forever with the only One that will never leave or forsake me. (Hebrews 12:1-3, 13:5) As I look at that one permanent possession I have, it reminds me that most of the world does not have that solid ground to stand on, and I’m convicted to run even more with the Good News to share this abundant blessing.
