Sanctified by the Power of God
I am thankful that our sanctification is in the hands of the Almighty God. Sanctification may be a confusing term since the Bible and church are the only places we hear it. Sanctification is the process of a follower of Christ becoming more and more like Him in character. We can’t become like Christ in our own strength or by our own will power.
In the same way that we weren’t saved by our own actions, we also aren’t able to grow closer to God because of our abilities or accomplishments. Both before and after salvation, we are helpless apart from the power of God. This doesn’t mean that we do nothing and just wait for God to transform us. He transforms us as we strive to know Him. We choose to move, but He is the one changing us, guiding us, and sanctifying us. I know I am weak and stumble, but I praise God that my sanctification is dependent on His strength and not my own. We are being sanctified by His unfaultering, all-powerful, and ever-faithful hand!
I Thessalonians 5:23-24
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.
May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
