Don’t be fooled!
This mud doesn’t look like much, but when there is clay involved, it’s slicker than snot. Picture fish-tailing, sliding sideways, spinning the steering wheel, and praying not to land in a ditch and especially not to hit the van that threw caution to the wind and flew past me at one point while I was sliding sideways, powerless to remedy the situation.
The other day I went out to the community on beautiful dry roads but within an hour and a half the rain rolled in – dousing the roads. My coworkers also decided to head to town that day, so they led the way, setting solid tracks for me to follow and giving me the confidence that help was close by if I landed in a ditch.
It took 1.5 hours to cover 22 miles, and although it was good practice the mud can get FAR worse!
Thankful for a vehicle with 4×4 and for coworkers who are ready to play in the mud and rescue whoever gets stuck! I’m sure my day is coming 🙂
