“The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” -Psalm 126:3
As I was driving into town this morning to do some partnership development (PD) work I was reflecting on God’s goodness to our family. He has been SO faithful to us and cares so sweetly for our needs. Can I just share a few things with you that He has done for us lately?
On Friday my aunt and uncle came by to see us and we were able to celebrate my uncle’s birthday. Before they left they brought in a HUGE bag of groceries as well as some goodies for our girls. How awesome that God provided in that way for us?!? Then on Monday Chandler had to take our van into the shop for an oil change. While there he also got our ties rotated (which they did for free for us!!!) but then also found out that we desperately needed new 4 tires! It’s actually amazing that we did not have any issues on our trip to Florida – they were that bad! So, Chandler told the garage that we would need to wait until we got paid on the 1st of August, because after all of our travels this month we did not have the extra for this expense. We were a little bummed because waiting to do this would potentially delay our next planned PD trip to Hampton, VA. Well, yesterday we received two checks in the mail and then this morning a sweet family (and future co-workers) decided to bless us with a check. Between the three checks we have a little more than what we needed for the the tires…and the extra can be used for our travels next week to UVA for Gideon’s follow-up appointment at the children’s hospital! I’m amazed as I sit here and see all this on my computer screen. It’s like the Lord keeps doing these things to remind us that He is with us and advocating on our behalf.
Another really neat thing that we saw God do happened on Sunday. On Sunday we were able to be with Bedrock Roanoke, a church plant of our sending church here in Bedford, VA. They did an interview with us so that the church could know who we are and what the Lord has led our family to be a part of in Tanzania. After the service a sweet woman came up to us with an envelope and in it had $4. She said that was all the money she had, but that she felt like she needed to give it to us! Wow. That gift meant the world to us! To know that she was obedient…even in the small things. Honestly, I am still brought to tears when I think of this. As I was driving in this morning I was asking myself, am I obedient…even in the small things? Am I giving my all to Jesus (like the widow’s mites in Luke 21:1-4) or is there anything I am holding back? Like I have said, God is faithful, not only in the physical but more importantly in the spiritual…growing my heart and pointing me back to HIM!
