We dragged
ourselves from our beds, stuffed some grub into our mouths, and repacked the
van for the eleventy zillionth time. At least it would be the last time.
We were on the road by 8 am. By 8:10 we were stopped for a potty break.
Was it going to be one of those days?

We cruised eastward into South Dakota on I-90, where we were met with
violent everyone’s-drifting-all-over-the-road crosswinds. We plowed onward
before stopping to gaze upon the stone faces of past American presidents.
We crawled along through tourist-infested hills before escaping back to the
interstate where we set the cruise control and sailed for home.

Eleven hours later, not long before the clock struck midnight, we arrived
back in wonderful St. Bonifacius, MN. It was good to be out of the van. It
was good to be home.

This latest road trip took us through deserts and mountains until we reached
the cold spray of the Pacific ocean where we stayed with Maggie’s grandma
and had the opportunity to share with her church family there. We spent
time in the Cascades with Chris’ sister and her family, and time in Oregon
with Chris’ brother and his family. We flew from Portland to Anchorage and
visited friends and supporters there. And everywhere in between we met with
others who have been part of our team. We were encouraged and blessed by so
many people and reminded again of how God is using so many of his children
working together to see the Gospel go forth in Papua New Guinea.

Just as Chris H. and Chris S. had to lean on each other as they worked their
way further down those cables, we are leaning on so many people who are
supporting us as we slowly make our way down the cable of life. Thank you
to everyone God is using to support us and bless us.

Seven o’clock in the morning we woke up in Buffalo, WY.
