NCLA Consultant Report<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n For: Chris Hostetter<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Level: Basic level 1st<\/sup> eval<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Date: Nov 16, 2011<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Location: Benson (Ben) & Helen\u2019s house<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Culture\/Language helper: Benson<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Overall Impression:<\/span> You\u2019re doing well Chris.\u00a0 You\u2019re talking and trying to fit into the culture which is great.\u00a0 It was exciting to see how you and Benson felt comfortable with each other.\u00a0\u00a0 You tried to make a joke here and there which is good.\u00a0 You\u2019re not afraid to try and that\u2019s what\u2019s needed.\u00a0 You\u2019ve made good progress within the time here already.\u00a0 Nice to see you trying the rugby sport that\u2019s new to ya. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n NCLA Level: <\/span>Chris has been informed about the different levels of communication tasks. \u00a0 <\/span>I went through the Basic level communications tasks with Chris.\u00a0 He did very well and is moving right along I would put him at a Basic High boarding the progressive low.\u00a0 He seems to be getting out regularly and building relationships.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n General Recommendations- <\/span>Chris, my recommendations for you are to work on your vowels.\u00a0 You have a tendency to relax your mouth and allow your vowels to come out as vowel glides.\u00a0 This is normal for the beginning and it will get better but you will have to listen and mimic maybe to some recordings. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n To make sentences flow well, you\u2019ll need to work on using \u201clong\u201d (for, at, to, about) and practice the \u201cbai\u201d and \u201cbin\u201d usage.\u00a0 Keep asking questions to learn.\u00a0 Get recordings of stories or conversations amongst themselves.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Chris, I really have enjoyed getting to know you these days and find that you are an easy guy to talk to.\u00a0 I can see you doing well with the people in this country. \u00a0 Great work, Chris!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" We had our first evals last Wednesday and Thursday and then received our ‘progress report’ on Sunday.\u00a0 Excerpts from both the reports are below.\u00a0 Enjoy!
