{"id":326,"date":"2011-11-24T07:23:23","date_gmt":"2011-11-24T11:23:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/?p=326"},"modified":"2011-11-24T07:23:23","modified_gmt":"2011-11-24T11:23:23","slug":"happy-thanksgiving-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/2011\/11\/24\/happy-thanksgiving-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy Thanksgiving!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have a wonderful day!\u00a0 We hope you are able to spend it with loved ones.\u00a0 Mom and dad, what time should we expect you?<\/p>\n<p>As your Thanksgiving day is beginning, ours is ending.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what we did today.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie woke up early and by 7am was working in Kaula&#8217;s garden.\u00a0 She returned home near 9am as the kids and I were cleaning up from Breakfast.\u00a0 I then spent the rest of the morning trying to fill out a finance form that needed done right away.\u00a0 We had mac-n-cheese for lunch and then I spent some time memorizing the radio alphabet (I&#8217;ll explain that some other time) and learning all the names and locations of PNG&#8217;s provinces.\u00a0 Mid-afternoon found all of us outside, after the rain shower ended, and I finished cutting steps into the slippery grassy hillside behind our house.<\/p>\n<p>Near 4pm I took off up the road (on foot) to see if people were working on the Church we attend.\u00a0 They&#8217;ve been pouring cement all week but not this day.\u00a0 I found a friend nearby and talked with him awhile.\u00a0 Not long after another friend came by and him and I went over to the volleyball net.\u00a0 (Side note: This house line recently got a new volleyball net put up and now all the young men are playing Volleyball every afternoon instead of Rugby.\u00a0 I hope they tire of this game pretty quickly.\u00a0 Rugby is way more fun.)\u00a0 We played a couple games of volleyball and then David (one of the previously mentioned friends) came with me back to my house to borrow one of my novels so he could read it and learn English more.\u00a0 He ended up staying for supper; chicken strips, biscuits, corn, and pineapple.\u00a0 Our whole family walked him to the gate after supper was finished and then we came back, cleaned up, and put the kids to bed.\u00a0 Maggie and I played a couple card games and now she&#8217;s on one computer and I&#8217;m on the other.\u00a0 This was our day!<\/p>\n<p>Thanksgiving is not a national holiday here (but Christmas is!) and so we didn&#8217;t celebrate today.\u00a0 However, we will be having Thanksgiving this weekend.\u00a0 On Sunday, all the families that live on the center here will be gathering together to eat and give thanks to God for all His blessings to us.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s some things we&#8217;re thankful for.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our families, friends, and health.<\/p>\n<p>All the friendly nationals willing to help us learn Tok Pisin.<\/p>\n<p>The beautiful hills, mountains, and scenery we get to enjoy everyday.<\/p>\n<p>All of our partners in ministry.\u00a0 Those that give, pray, write, encourage, and do so many other things.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-327\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2011\/11\/100_1082-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"Scenery\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2011\/11\/100_1082-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2011\/11\/100_1082-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-328\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2011\/11\/100_1080-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"More Scenery\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2011\/11\/100_1080-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2011\/11\/100_1080-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have a wonderful day!\u00a0 We hope you are able to spend it with loved ones.\u00a0 Mom and dad, what time should we expect you?
