{"id":424,"date":"2012-01-07T05:19:22","date_gmt":"2012-01-07T09:19:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/?p=424"},"modified":"2012-01-07T05:19:22","modified_gmt":"2012-01-07T09:19:22","slug":"birthday-party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/2012\/01\/07\/birthday-party\/","title":{"rendered":"Birthday Party"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We went out to Tom and Ben&#8217;s place for a young boy&#8217;s birthday party Friday morning.\u00a0 We were told to come in the morning\u00a0 and that it would be just a little thing and we expected to be home for lunch.\u00a0 7 hours later we were home.<\/p>\n<p>When we got there they had set up a big tent in the middle of their yard and were decorating it with flowers and balloons.\u00a0 20-25 kids were running around playing and as they saw us coming up the trail they all ran to meet us.\u00a0 Women were preparing food and Maggie joined them and I sat and talked with some of the men.\u00a0 They told us the party would start soon and they were just waiting for some people who ran into town to pick up a few things.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_427\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-427\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-427\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2012\/01\/100_1482-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"The party tent.\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2012\/01\/100_1482-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2012\/01\/100_1482-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-427\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The party tent.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The party started a couple hours later (about 1pm) and our kids were starving for lunch and we hadn&#8217;t brought any snacks for them this trip.\u00a0 We were expecting to be back home for lunch.\u00a0 Bailey scored a banana and lollipops suddenly appeared in the kids&#8217; hands and everyone was happy again.\u00a0 The first part of the party was games.\u00a0 Enjoy the pics.\u00a0 Maggie and I participated in the coke chugging contest. But alas, you can&#39;t.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There was also pinata smacking, sweet potato peeling, coke chugging, and egg breaking.<\/p>\n<p>After the games they began pulling out the food.\u00a0 Many members of the family (aunts, uncles, grandmas and grandpas) live nearby and had been cooking huge amounts of food for the party.\u00a0 Now they all grabbed the food they had prepared (chicken, pork, rice, noodles, sweet potatoes, potatoes, watermelon, pineapple, cabbage, sandwiches, etc.) and filled up 3 tables and some of the space underneath.\u00a0 As we all were getting ready to begin the buffet line, rain (pouring rain) began to fall.\u00a0 Everyone scrambled to grab umbrellas and such to hold over the food and eating got delayed a bit.\u00a0 The rain lightened after a bit, but never did stop, and we ate.<\/p>\n<p>We were told to go first and they dished us up heaping portions of just about everything there.\u00a0 We ate and then decided it was time to head for home.\u00a0 It was still raining as we made the 40 minute hike home but the kids did just dandy.\u00a0 Although, we looked like this when we go home. . .<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_431\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-431\" style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-431\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2012\/01\/100_1498-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"Wet and dirty!\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2012\/01\/100_1498-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/files\/2012\/01\/100_1498-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-431\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wet and dirty!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We went out to Tom and Ben&#8217;s place for a young boy&#8217;s birthday party Friday morning.\u00a0 We were told to come in the morning\u00a0 and that it would be just a little thing and we expected to be home for lunch.\u00a0 7 hours later we were home.
