{"id":8,"date":"2008-09-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-09-17T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2008-09-17T12:53:34","modified_gmt":"2008-09-17T16:53:34","slug":"one-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/2008\/09\/17\/one-month\/","title":{"rendered":"One Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Somehow, a month has already flown by.&nbsp; Life has been pretty good.&nbsp; We&#8217;re continuing to develope relationships with fellow students and with staff.&nbsp; These relationships are very important to us because we need the love, encouragement , growth, and the accountability that comes with the relationship.&nbsp; It is our desire to not only gain the knowledge it takes to be a missionary but to become the growing, learning, Christ-follower that God wants us to be, so that we can be fully effective in our ministry.<\/p>\n<p>So what have I been doing for a month?&nbsp; Well, morning are spent in class; (Culture\/Language Learning Intro, Form and Meaning in translating, Time Management, Learning Styles).&nbsp; Three afternoons a week I work on the grounds crew mowing or seeding around campus.&nbsp; Wednesday nights I help with Young Life.&nbsp; Young Life is an outreach to unsaved Highschoolers.&nbsp; We sing popular secular songs, play crazy games, and have a short &#8216;talk&#8217; about Jesus.&nbsp; I hope to build relationships with a few teen guys through this and be able to spend time with them and share Christ with them outside of Young Life.&nbsp; I should have more to share about Young Life in a few weeks as we&#8217;re just getting started.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Maggie enjoys playing volleyball and basketball with students and staff one night a week and I enjoy playing football with a group of guys saturday mornings.&nbsp; We get to play on the astroturf field at the local highschool.&nbsp; Its a pretty sweet field.&nbsp; Also, every other friday night I get together with four other guys and we play Twilight Imperium.&nbsp; Its a strategy board game that takes hours and hours.&nbsp; As of now, we have yet to finish a game, but we&#8217;re determined to play a whole game next time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Warm days we&#8217;re often at the beach taking our kids swimming and seeing what new tricks (or ways we can kill ourselves) can be done on the rope swing.&nbsp; The staff&#8217;s houses are always open and we&#8217;ve spent time just visiting with them, and we often get together with neighbors to play cards.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve settled on the Potter&#8217;s House church.&nbsp; It is a church of a couple hundred, has contemporary worship, Biblical teaching, and a fun children&#8217;s program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Its been a good month.&nbsp; Our van is still running, (294,000+ miles), our apartment is great, and we&#8217;re fairly healthy.&nbsp;&nbsp; Thanks for your prayers, encouragement, and support.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve been here a whole month already.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_genesis_hide_title":false,"_genesis_hide_breadcrumbs":false,"_genesis_hide_singular_image":false,"_genesis_hide_footer_widgets":false,"_genesis_custom_body_class":"","_genesis_custom_post_class":"","_genesis_layout":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-8","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","entry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=8"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=8"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/chris-hostetter\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=8"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
