In just 3 1\/2 weeks we will be back in Canada! So I was thinking about what my\/our expectations might be for home assignment this year. <\/p>\n
Last time we were \u201chome\u201d we were so busy. We had a great time but returned to the Philippines feeling like we didn\u2019t do everything we wanted to. This time I am going to make a list, and maybe it will change. Things might get added or taken away but I want to have a goal for our time. (These are not in order of priority!)<\/p>\n
\n1. Reconnect with our family. Spending more time together. Getting to know our nieces and nephews again. Spending time with brothers and sisters, grandparents and our parents.<\/font><\/p>\n
2.<\/font> Reconnect with our home church, Faith Evangelical Missionary Church in Wasaga Beach. Get involved! Get to know new people and renew old friendships.<\/font><\/p>\n
3.<\/font> Go to Tim Horton\u2019s often! Boy, do we miss Tim Horton\u2019s bagels, donuts and coffee (well Chuck misses the coffee!)<\/font><\/p>\n
4.<\/font> Spend time in our supporting churches. We want to get to know people more than we do. If possible help out or attend more than just a Sunday morning service.<\/font><\/p>\n
5.<\/font> Go to Grand Manan. Going to Grand Manan as a kid was the best thing I did. We took the kids in 2008 and they loved it. It is the one big thing they want to do while in Canada.<\/font><\/p>\n
6.<\/font> Share what the Lord has been doing here in the Philippines, specifically with the Ga\u2019dang people, with anyone who wants to hear.<\/font><\/p>\n
7.<\/font> Connect with new churches and individuals, sharing the work the Lord is doing amongst the Ga\u2019dang people.<\/font><\/p>\n
8.<\/font> See an increase in our current support. We are currently receiving 53% of the mission recommended support level.<\/font><\/p>\n
9.<\/font> Find someone that would like to come back with us to homeschool our kids for us, so I can be more involved in language study.<\/font><\/p>\n
10.<\/font> Have BBQ\u2019s\u2026with family and friends.<\/font><\/p>\n
11.<\/font> Get Eli adjusted to a \u201creal\u201d school, high school.<\/font><\/p>\n
12.<\/font> Raise funds for solar equipment and a new generator for our house in the village.<\/font><\/p>\n
13.<\/font> Enjoy shopping without everyone staring at us\u2026oh wait, we have 6 kids, we still might get stared at!<\/font><\/p>\n
14.<\/font> Go to Praise in the Park during the summer.<\/font><\/p>\n
15.<\/font> Drink real milk, not UHT or powdered!<\/font><\/p>\n
16.<\/font> Start a medical fund to help with medical expenses for the Ga\u2019dang people. ie: medical flights out of the village, hospitalization, surgery, etc.<\/font><\/p>\n
17.<\/font> Smile lots.<\/font><\/p>\n
18.<\/font> Drive! Chuck drives when we aren\u2019t in the village but I, Shannon, haven\u2019t driven in 2 1\/2 yrs! Look out everyone on the road.<\/font><\/p>\n
19.<\/font> <\/font>Spend a few days away with my husband, without the kids. Kind of a late anniversary getaway and celebration for the next 3!<\/font><\/p>\n
20.<\/font> Go to a library, often. We miss being able to read so many books.<\/font><\/p>\n
21.<\/font> Laugh more.<\/font><\/p>\n
22.<\/font> Eat goooood apples! And raspberries and strawberries and blueberries!<\/font><\/p>\n
23.<\/font> Play in the snow! Maybe only once or twice though.<\/font><\/p>\n
24.<\/font> Go to Canada\u2019s Wonderland.<\/font><\/p>\n
25.<\/font> Go on hikes for pleasure not necessity.<\/font><\/p>\n
26.<\/font> Not buy all the food we need for 3 weeks at a time, but if we need something go buy it.<\/font><\/p>\n
27.<\/font> Send the kids for sleepovers with their grandparents.<\/font><\/p>\n
28.<\/font> Sing with more than just our family, with a congregation.<\/font><\/p>\n
29.<\/font> Love the Lord my God with all my heart, soul, and mind.<\/font><\/p>\n
