“Only fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.” – 1 Samuel 12:24
Dear Faithful Prayer Partners,
Wow! How fast the last month has flown by. We have now been in Paraguay for one month! We have been going back over in our mind our flight down here and our first full day. We are so grateful that the Lord has brought us here to learn Spanish and someday minister in that language. The verse above has been a great reminder and encouragement to us. He has done great things for us and because of that we want to give our lives back to him to serve as He sees fit in Paraguay. We want to thank all of you for keeping us upheld in prayer and for giving of the finances God has given you for His service.
In our December update we reported that we were at 69% of our support. We are now currently at 73% (3964.00) and we are praising the Lord for His great provision. We are still in the process of looking for a place to live, the area in which we need to be in is quite expensive and rentals go very quickly. Please continue to pray that Lord would provide a house for us to rent, living in the guest house is nice but we really want to be near the kid’s school and our church. We have also been able to have two language sessions with our language helper, Pedro. Both sessions have been really great. So many times we find ourselves trying to pronounce some Spanish words like we would in English, there are many laughs by all. We also find that after two hours that our brains get very tired. Please continue to pray as we learn Spanish and as we study.
The kids have been adjusting well to their new home country. The boys are attending Escuela Bautista de Herrera (Baptist School of Herrera) and jumped right in and they are enjoying every minute of it. They had their first day of school on the 11th. Jehiah gets to stay with Mommy and Daddy and she enjoys that extra alone time with us. They have been making friends and have even had the opportunity to join Oansa (Awana) in our church.
OUR FIRST MONTH
We have had a pretty busy first month here in Paraguay. We were picked up at the airport by our Pastor and some of our church family. We were really tired when we stepped off that plane but we were so grateful to see the smiling faces that waited for us. Our first weekend was started off with a Bienvenida (Welcoming Party), where we got to see many co-workers we knew and meet ones we have only heard about. Our first whole week started off by attending our church, Iglesia Bautista Getsemane, where we got to meet our new church family and then they had another Bienvenida. The rest of the week consisted of resting, starting the house search, reading our Orientation Guide, and getting our kids enrolled in school. The next week the kids started school and we started our Orientation to the Field of Paraguay. There was quite a bit of information and lots of reading to do. As we said earlier, we have started with our language helper; Pedro and have been learning so much already. It is now our job to listen, listen, listen to our recordings and then review them. We have been also able to make some friends. Our Pastor’s daughter and son – in – law have become very good friends. We also look forward to seeing them on Sunday and we even have been able to spend time together outside of church. Well, Easter is upon us and this is one of the major holidays for the people of Paraguay. Celebration starts on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday. This week for the Catholic Church is Semana Santa (Holy Week). We don’t know everything about it yet but we look forward to learning.
We want to thank you all so much for your love, prayers, and support. You all mean the world to us.
For His Name and His Glory,
Colton, Tanja, Malaquías, Noé, Gedeón, y Jehía
