Twigg Family Updates ~ July 2013

July 31, 2013 by Colton and Tanja Twigg

Dear Faithful Prayer Partners,

Celebrating Castorina's Birthday! She is such a blessing to us as the kids Bible teacher!

We have now been here for 5 months.  Wow!  This month has been pretty busy for us.  The kids were on winter break for 3 weeks.  Lets just say there has not been a whole lot of quietness in the house.  We have also been dealing with cooler temperatures for us which means wearing many layers of clothing to stay warm.  The coldest it has been was 1 degree Celsius which in Fahrenheit is about 34 degrees.  So you can only imagine how cold it was in our house (we could see our breath).  We are looking forward to some warmer temps in the near future!    We want to thank you all for being part of our team!  You are very important to us!!!!  Your prayers and financial support speak volumes to us and show us how much you love us and want the people of Paraguay to know Christ.  So THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.

Support

As far as our support goes not much has changed.  We are still at 76% which is a huge praise for us.  We still ask that you continue to uphold our support in prayer.  We would love to be at 100% but know that the Lord is the only one who can do it.  Please pray how the Lord may have you to be involved in our ministry.

A Week in the Life of Jehiah

Jehiah gets a lot of mommy time Monday-Friday while the boys are at school and Daddy is studying.  She loves playing with Millie and watching her “girly” movies.  She is getting ready to celebrate her fourth birthday Strawberry Shortcake style.  She knows a few Spanish phrases and at first only spoke them to the dog, but is now starting to use them with people.  She has learned some Spanish songs and likes to sing them around the house.  She enjoys going to the mission every Friday to play with her new friends Jade and Reina.  She enjoys helping people, and we love seeing that quality at work at such a young age.

Culture, One Event at a Time

Chipa Asador, Mbeju, and Pastel Mandi'o

Learning culture is a daily thing for us.  A culture event is anything we experience in daily life.  Riding the Bus, going to the supermarket, or even going for a walk can be a culture learning event.  This past month has been filled with many adventures for our family.  We were able to attend a San Juan event held in our neighborhood, attend EXPO, and celebrate friendship day with our church family.  San Juan is mainly a Catholic celebrated holiday but has much folklore to it.  The event we attended was family friendly and they had many games for kids, yummy foods, and traditional Paraguayan dances.  We attended the event with some of our co-workers and their Paraguayan friend.  Expo is a huge event here.  It is almost like going to the state fair.  They have cattle judging, animal barns, businesses and vendors trying to sell their products, carnival rides and games, and many different kinds of food.  We attended expo with our friend and language helper Pedro.  We walked around the grounds looking at all the animals, watched the cattle judging, and ate empanadas, lomito arabe,  and panchos.  We had a great time.  The 30th  was Friendship Day here in Paraguay.  This is a very important day.  Paraguayans treasure their friends and spend this day honoring them.  They get together with

their friends and have a little party with food and gifts.  On Sunday the 28th Colton and our friend Natasha sang “What a Friend we have in Jesus.”  There is no better way to celebrate friends than celebrating with our true friend who gave His life for ours.  We then celebrated by having a Fellowship Meal after the service, we had Asado, many different kinds of salads, rolls, and sopa paraguaya.  We had a wonderful time fellowshipping with our brothers and sisters.
