Our Family Reunion

November 14, 2008 by Dale and Barb McAlister

Our children were raised in Papua New Guinea in the Kuman tribe. Our kids were 8 to 15 when we first arrived in the Kuman in 1981.  God allowed us to be there for 15 years and we were able to learn the language and also work on some translation.

The kids loved being around the Kuman people and now some of the believers were children with our kids.  God used them in the lives of the Kuman people and we praise HIM for the handful of people we will see again in heaven someday!!

In October we were able to have all of our kids together. We were together in 2003 and since that time we have added 3 more grandkids so it was fun to see them meet each other again.

We had a talent night and had the grandkids each perform for everyone.  It was a fun watching the 13 year old, who is now 6 feet tall burp through the alphabet.  The little girls all showed off their ballet and the little boys made up a silly song.  The babies just entertained us by smiling for us.  At the end it was suggested that our kids dress up like Kuman people.

They were happy to do it and had fun getting into our artifacts and putting on various things.  They then came whooping into the front room and did a Kuman dance.

We LOVED watching them and also watching the faces of our grandkids.  They also loved it.  God has used our kids in the lives of the Kuman people.  It has been a privelege to serve HIM and we thank HIM for the way HE has undertaken and provided for us over these years.
