Up in the air again!

October 20, 2008 by

so happy to fly!

Dan’s birthday was the 18th of this month and I was trying to think of a birthday present for him that would be special since this was his first birthday here.  I emailed the chief pilot with NTMA and asked if there was any way that Dan could go on a flight with him sometime- as a gift!  Our main "ministry" right now is language study- so it doesn’t leave time for much else and Dan has been so eager to get up in the air again!

A few days later, he called and said that he had an emergency medical flight the next morning and wanted to know if Dan could go.  Well, we were supposed to be moving to our new house the next morning, but we postponed that until the afternoon so Dan could go.  He was so excited!!!  He hadn’t been up flying in about 6 months and was excited just to get back in a plane again!

They flew out to a village where they picked up a missionary lady who had been in severe pain for a few weeks and needed to see a doctor.  When they left Cochabamba, it was nice and cool.  When they landed at the village they were sweating!  What a huge difference in climate!  Dan said it was amazing to look down on the country that we came here to serve.  They actually flew so high (to get over the mountains) they had to use oxygen!  He came home renewed and re-energized about why we came here.  It was so good for him to get his focus again.  We sometimes get discouraged just doing language study, and yet we know that it is so important.  The Lord has us here for a purpose- we just need to be patient and wait on Him when we feel discouraged.

Check out the Photo section under Bolivia Pics for more pictures of his flight!
