Where do we even start??? Most of you know by now that we are back in the US. We left Bolivia the end of November after seeking the Lord about what He wanted us to do in regards to what was happening with our flight program as well as what He was doing in our hearts. We wanted to make sure that we weren’t rushing into a decision and we prayed separately as well as together and also had close friends and family praying for direction and clarity. After praying and seeking the Lord, we both felt that we needed to return to the States and see what the Lord had for us– whether it was returning to Bolivia or something else. Shortly after returning to the States, a door opened up for us to serve as NTM missionaries at Moody Aviation in Spokane, WA. Everything, and we mean everything, opened up for us to move out here so Dan could be a flight instructor for students who are preparing to serve overseas as pilot/mechanics. It actually came together so quickly that we were jokingly asking the Lord if He could slow down a bit! It was very clear to us that He brought us back to the States for a reason. Even before we left Bolivia, Dan had a couple different people (in Bolivia and in the US) say to him that they felt he was gifted in flight instructing. It was weird at the time, but now looking back, it was like the Lord was redirecting us even before we knew it.
We are now living in Spokane and getting adjusted. We are still dealing with reverse culture shock after returning to the States and have days where we really miss Bolivia and our friends there. Dan is now fulltime at Moody, getting himself up to speed to Moody’s standards. He feels like a student again! He will begin teaching students in July, when the new semester starts. Moody Aviation here is not the same school that we knew when Dan was a student, so we are adjusting to some of the new ways they do things and are excited about some of the changes that have been made.
Our hearts are still in overseas missions and we see our time at Moody Aviation as a transition period for Dan to refine his aviation skills and also to encourage students who are starting the process of becoming missionary pilots. Our prayer is that in a few years we will be able to accept another overseas assignment with New Tribes. We just wanted to clarify that for those of you who may be wondering what our future desires are! One of the things we feared when we came back to the US was that our support would drop. We were very saddened to learn that our biggest supporting church would be dropping us in June, but have been encouraged by the extra unexpected gifts that have come in as well! Thank you! We would appreciate your prayers as we trust the Lord for our finances and that we would walk by faith and not by sight. It’s amazing how we constantly need to be giving this area of finances back to the Lord! We have never been without food or housing or clothing and yet we still get nervous and start fretting and worrying about how we’re going to make it each month!
