Dear PRAYing friends and family,
The year is flying by, and May is already half over! We are enjoying the warmer weather and being outside more. Monday night we sat on our driveway with some neighbors to watch the amazing lunar eclipse!
Embaloh Bible Reprint & Rina:
My Embaloh co-worker, Rina, has been very busy with her internship at the missionary training center. She was asked to help teach the Literacy class last month to 8 missionary candidates. She passed on to me that the many years of working together on the Embaloh literacy program really helped in answering some tough questions that came up. Rina and James are going to make their engagement official in her home village in West Kalimantan on the 13th of June. Please be in prayer for them as they continue to join their lives in serving the Lord together. (James is on staff at the missionary training center.) In the photo here, she is giving an update of the needs for personnel in West Kalimantan to the missionary student body. Pray that the Lord would raise up laborers. As for me, I have spent a lot of time this past month working on the cover, spine and preliminary pages for the Embaloh Bible, such as the copyright, title and contents pages. This is a photo of the final cover for the Bible that we will be sending to the printer in Jakarta hopefully this month.
Printing of Taman Scripture Portions:
After spending a month updating all of the West Kalimantan team’s annual literacy materials forms, I am back to work on printing the Taman scripture portions. Recently another organization has begun making plans to finish this translation project. We are grateful the Lord has provided for that need.
Semandang Old Testament drafting:
Oke has just sent me her final chapter of the Judges portions that she has drafted. That makes 10 chapters total of Judges that she has finished. She asked me yesterday if she could begin drafting the story of Elisha being taken up to heaven since that is what she is currently studying in the scriptures. Oke got a really good harvest this year, so she is praising the Lord for bountiful provision of rice for her and Grace.
We’re looking forward to making a trip to Montana early next month to spend some time with family and friends and our support team there. Greg, Pam and family will be there for a few weeks as they will be in the States for a short furlough this summer. Greg’s visa renewal in still in process so we’re praying that he’ll have it in time to make this trip with his family.
Praise & Prayer Requests:
- Pray for the Lord to raise up co-workers to be challenged with the needs in West Kalimantan.
- Praise the Lord for good communication with the printer as we prepare to print the Embaloh Bible.
- Pray for Rina and James’ formal engagement plans in June.
- Praise that Oke was able to finish drafting all of the Judges portions that we planned to translate into Semandang.
- Pray for Greg’s visa renewal to come through quickly and for their summer travel and plans in the States.
Thank you for your faithful prayers,
Darcy, Ron, and Nita Berglund
