Dear PRAYing family and friends,
It’s been a very busy summer so far but also very good and encouraging. Thank you so much for your prayers on our behalf. We thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with Greg and Pam and Grace and Caleb when they came through Sheridan to visit us, as well as other missionary friends. This month Lillian will be on her way back to Bible College and will be here for a few days.
I (Darcy) continue translation of our Literacy Manual for our national missionary teams to use. I’ve got about 20 pages left to go to finish the final two chapters.
Oke and her niece Grace are doing well. Oke’s health has been up and down. She is close to finishing drafting the remaining chapters of Exodus. However her internet is not working well again. This time her computer is not able to connect to her cell phone hotspot so she is unable to download email or send her drafts to me. Again, please pray for that situation. She is planning to plant a small rice field this year so that she won’t have to buy rice. Grace is adjusting well in school to her new high school in town.
The Lord answered prayers for the wife of our Embaloh church elder who went to Malaysia for surgery to remove a malignant tumor. Thanks so much for your prayers. The doctor said that he was able to get it all and she is back home in the village recovering. We have not heard whether she will need any followup treatment.
Greg, Pam and Caleb are back in Asia-Pacific and into their busy schedules. Caleb is ready to begin his junior year of high school. Doug and Nancy are headed back soon as well. They would appreciate your prayers.
The local church in my Semandang village has just sent out their first missionary to minister in a cross-cultural context. Same province, same island, different people group and language. I’m sure Joshua and his wife would appreciate your prayers as they learn a language and culture that is different from their own. By the way, Joshua is my nephew, the son of my adopted older tribal sister who is younger than me (long story). I was at my sister’s side when she gave birth to him almost 30 years ago and I felt then that the Lord had great things in store for him.
Our national training program has just started the fall semester classes and activities. Please be in prayer for the staff and the 60+ students there. And please pray especially for one of the staff families who just lost their 24 year old son. There are also 17 new missionaries in the language and orientation program where Greg is serving. They would appreciate prayer for learning the national language and culture and then finding the Lord’s direction for where He wants them to serve.
PRAISE AND PRAYER:
Pray for Oke’s health and for our translation ministry
Praise for new missionary families on the field and the national candidates in training
Praise God for His faithfulness every moment of every day
Pray for accuracy, naturalness and clear meaning in translating God’s Word into the Semandang language
Thank you for upholding us in prayer so faithfully,
Darcy, and Ron & Nita Berglund
