Dear PRAYing family and friends,
Greetings from Sheridan! I’ve been sick this month with a bad respiratory infection, but praise the Lord, while I still have a bit of a cough, I’m feeling much better. There’s been a lot of sickness going around here lately so it’s not too surprising. Mom is coughing now and we are praying that she’ll get well soon. Dad has not gotten the bug yet for which we are thankful.
A lot has been happening back home on our island of Kalimantan: Oke has had a change in her plans regarding one of the literacy workshops she was planning to attend. We were unable to find another literacy team person from our area that could travel with her, and her family didn’t feel comfortable with her traveling alone (switching planes in Jakarta, etc) since she’s never been on a commercial flight or even off the island, so she has decided not to attend the March workshop. She still plans on attending the workshop in May that will not require such extensive travel. Thanks for your prayers about this. The Lord doesn’t always answer our prayers in the way we expect Him to, but we know that His way is always the best way.
We were excited to hear news this week that a young lady named Ester in our Nanga Nyabau church is working with the children there. She is facilitating something like a book club for the kids once a week, having them read aloud the scripture booklets that Rina and I have provided in the Embaloh language for their church “library”. Ester says that the kids love reading those Bible stories. We are so thankful for Ester and her desire to see the Embaloh children reading fluently in their own language. They will grow up having access to God’s Word in their heart language.
Another exciting bit of news is that the Sekadau audio Bible recording project is currently getting set up to begin recording. They will definitely need prayer for this project as there are always things that come up in the recording process that need to be handled well. Pray that the team will work well together.
The first half of the book of Acts has now been printed in the Kendawangan language and will soon be delivered to those villages. Pray that the Kendawangan people would really enjoy reading and getting to know the scriptures that are being made available to them. Pray that the remainder of Acts would be able to be final checked soon so that they will have the rest of that wonderful book as part of their new life in Christ. Please pray for maturity in the believers there as a result.

We are planning a Berglund family reunion in Bozeman, Montana this June 13-23, 2025. We are not sure yet if all of our family will be able to come. I know that they won’t all be able to spend the whole 10 days together, but we are hoping that the Lord will open the doors for as many of us to be there as can be. We are praying about this time together and looking forward to it very much.
PRAISE AND PRAYER:
- Praise for Ester working with the Embaloh tribal children to read Bible stories together.
- Pray that the Sekadau audio Bible recording project will go smoothly.
- Pray for the Kendawangan believers to grow deeper in their walk with the Lord as they read and get to know the first part of the book of Acts and for the remainder to be checked soon.
- Pray that the Literacy workshop being held at the missionary training center Mar 31-Apr 18 would go well and help our literacy instructors understand the literacy program better.
- Pray for our Semandang translation team as we continue working our way through the book of Joshua.
- Pray for our family reunion in June that God would bless our family time spent together and that we would grow closer in our relationship with Him and with one another.
We are so thankful that God has continued to allow us to have a small part in building His church in the Asia-Pacific region of the world and we are thankful for your part as well,
Darcy, and Ron & Nita Berglund
