As you may know there is a huge river that flows across half of our island. On Sunday this week, there was a huge landslide in the upper regions of the river which stopped it up.

During the landslide, five people were injured. One 8 month old boy died and the other four have serious injuries. One lady is crippled. There is no road into this area. On Monday, as soon as the river had gone down enough, these survivors were brought seven hours to a nearby hospital.

Eventually, the landslide broke open and the flood waters went downriver to the next village. The four meter high water crashed into the village destroying 12 houses, the church, church living quarters and several storage building with supplies. PTL no one was hurt in this flash flood. The flood continued downriver causing much damage also in next village. Several boat loads of officials and doctors have been sent to assist in the situation.

Many of the people who were affected by this landslide and consequent flooding are believers. One young couple who is an elder of the GFA church, lost their storage shed of fuel and other items they sell. This is his livelihood as they don’t receive a wage through the church.

Pray this situation will bring glory to the Lord. The translation team has had to canceled their previous plans for working on the translation this week. Pray that unbelievers will seek the Lord for salvation. The rest are animistic religious people.

There has been a lot of rain lately in the central part of the island of Kalimantan where I live and minister.
