Dave continues to purchase computer systems for Brazilian translators to purchase out of a revolving fund. As we have described before, the missionaries in Brazil have a great need for affordable computers with adequate reliability.
Brazil allows computers to come into the country duty free if they cost under $500. But even $500 is too much for most Brazilian missionaries to come up with at one time.
A revolving fund has been established. The Brazilian missionaries can borrow from this fund to purchase computer equipment. They pay the fund back, interest free, as they can.
Dave finds used Dell Latitudes that are coming off lease and are being auctioned off by Dell Financial Services. Because these units still have warranty left, Dave is able to bring them up to almost new standards before sending them on to Brazil.
The seven computers Dave purchased this week will be arriving in Sanford in the next few days.
- Pray as Dave and his department staff check out the systems, bring them up to standard, and install Brazilian Portuguese on them.
- Pray for more couriers who can take the computers to Brazil. Some are going with a work team from Maine the first week in April. Pray that all the computers arrive safely.
