I met on May 31st with co-workers and key men in NTM’s Communications Department to lay out the next steps for publishing Bible curriculum for Christian Schools.
Jan Harris is writing this curriculum. She is an NTM missionary who has taught many years in MK schools. She has also helped design Bible curriculum for Christian high schools. She had a vision for adapting NTM’s chronological teaching program, "Building on Firm Foundations," for 6th graders.
This is an exciting project – a completely new application for chronological teaching.
I have been working with Jan off and on over the past year. My primary task is making sure the material retains the correct chronological focus.
But Jan has also invited me to offer input in the curriculum itself — ideas for activities, homework, and curriculum connections. More than once, I’ve asked, "Nathan, what do you think about…..?" It sure helps to have had a 6th grader handy when thinking about how to communicate with 6th graders.
Field testing is scheduled for this Fall, and there’s a lot to be done.
- Please pray for an illustrator for the lessons. A retired NTM missionary named Bill is considering the job. Pray for him as he considers if he can handle the scope of this project.
- Pray for Doug (the gentleman next to me in the picture) as he does the layout work.
- Pray for Jan to have wisdom as she writes the second semester of lessons.
- Pray for me to have time and wisdom to do what I will need to do on the lessons when Jan starts turning the second semester over to me in October.
