We designated that memorial gifts for Joy go to the Kindergarten class at Lake Monroe Christian Academy. Joy spent one morning a week in Mrs. Schake’s class for eight years. She loved the children, and through her presence, they learned to love someone very different from themselves. Mrs. Schake decided to use the gifts to purchase new chairs.
The chairs arrived on Friday, and the children saw them for the first time on Monday. Can you imagine their excitement?

Mrs. Schake gave us a couple of the old chairs – one for Nathan, and one for us. We put ours in the sitting area where Joy’s bed used to be, and will put one of her teddy bears on it.
This year, more than any other, we have looked forward to the old giving way to the new. But we were soon reminded that we are still the same people – with the same hearts and attitudes and challenges. Thank God that He is at work in our lives, changing us for His glory. One day, the change will be complete and we will be with Him forever. In the meantime, we are thankful that God’s compassions are new every morning! (Lamentations 3:23)
Hmmm, it’s kind of like sitting in a brand new Kindergarten chair – every day!
