CLUNK

November 26, 2012 by Dave and Ruth Brendle

Nathan spent Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday Day painting stripes on his car, with the excellent assistance of his nephews.  It looks classy.

Then last evening, Sunday, the 25th, as he was driving to go see Christmas lights with his girlfriend and her family, he heard and felt a CLUNK.  The transmission died.  Please pray….

  1. That the truth that God is in control will be reinforced in our lives, especially for Nathan.
  2. For wisdom in repairing the car.
  3. For finances to cover the repair.

The juxtaposition of the two events – the enhancements to the outside of the car along with the death of the transmission – brought to mind the Scripture: “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7).  I think those blue stripes will always remind me to look deeper than the surface – in my own life and in others’ lives as well.
