Two steps forward; one step back

April 21, 2007 by

Joy works out with Samantha, her physical therapist.

Joy sat up for 45 minutes for physical therapy yesterday, April 20th.  Samantha could see significant improvement in her strength from last week to this.  But then during the night, Joy’s feeding site leaked again, irritating the fragile skin and causing bleeding.  She was pale and wanted to keep her eyes closed – both are clues that she was in pain.

Dave put a little more water in the balloon, and I cleansed the skin and smothered the area with protective ointment.  We resumed feeding, and the area is staying dry again – so far.

  • Continue to pray that the skin at Joy’s feeding site will heal completely.
  • Pray that Joy will get her pre-hospital strength back so that she can be up for longer periods of time.
  • Pray that we will not become discouraged when there are setbacks.
