Crawford October 2014 Update

October 25, 2014 by Dave and Jenny Crawford

Greetings from Minnesota, October 2014

I am typing this update in part as a therapy project. 4 weeks ago I suffered a stroke. As a part of my recovery, my therapist suggested that I practice typing. So with much effort I am typing this note to you. Jenny & I were in Toronto, Canada visiting our youngest son, Joel, along with his wife and our youngest of 16 grandchildren, Tristan. One evening I had difficulty swallowing my regimen of vitamins. I usually could swallow them in one gulp. The next morning my speech was slurred, I had a droopy smile and weakness on my left side. They took me to the hospital where the doctors confirmed that I had in fact had a stroke. My doctor told me that I was a little brain dead. I wasn’t quick enough to ask if he meant that my brain was a little dead or that I had a little brain that was dead. Since they all tell me that I have a good chance of full recovery, I conclude that I must have only been only a little brain dead, ha! Some may be tempted to say, “Finally Dave is admitting what has been obvious for years.” Ok, so now there is a legitimate excuse. J I have lost a lot of my dexterity as well as strength on my left side. Currently I am getting physical therapy (for rebuilding general strength, especially for walking and balance) and occupational therapy (for fine motor skills) both 3 times a week. The speech therapist has dropped back to once a week. All tell me that I am making excellent progress. Praise the Lord!

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Ps 27: ” One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.” 1 Ps 27:4 “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD”. ; Ps 27:24; “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.” Ps 31: 14 “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.” Ps 27:13The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.; Ps 33:13; “Behold, “the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;” Ps 33:18 ; “My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.” Ps 34:2; “O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.” Ps 34:3; “O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.” Ps 34:9; “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.” Ps 68:19; “But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.” Ps 73:28.

Thank you so much for your faithful support of us through your prayers and financial gifts. We praise the Lord for each of you.

Yours by His grace,

Dave & Jenny Crawford
