A number of things have discouraged me lately. There’s a lot of hurt in the world. The number of people choosing to join our team are down this year as well.
When those times come, it seems God is faithful to send me a little something to remind me of the big picture of His great eternal purposes as an encouragement. When I was discouraged and sulking about things in the office I read these words penned by Paul, “. . . we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ.”
During Pre-Field Orientation one of our friends was deeply moved by the families who gave testimony of how God is moving them to give up many creature comforts and connections with family and friends for the sake of those who have never heard the gospel. It moved me too. It was a good reminder of what it takes to further worship where it currently does not exist.
They are joining the team and trading in the lifestyle of certainty of what they know for a path of uncertainty. I just received an email from someone just joining the team who put it this way, “We still don’t know what this journey holds. But we do know that this morning 2,500 people groups woke up without any word of Truth to turn to. They are facing their day without the Light. They live fearful, desperate, lost.” That’s ultimate uncertainty.
What will sustain us in the daily grind of this walk of faith and uncertainty? It’s the desire in our hearts one with God’s desire that everyone worship the beautiful, magnificent Savior. He is so worthy of our worship. Everyone must worship something or someone since we are designed for worship.
I need to refocus my worship so others can too. It’s still true, it’s about worship.
