{"id":403,"date":"2021-05-12T18:28:38","date_gmt":"2021-05-12T22:28:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/david-hilt\/?p=403"},"modified":"2021-05-12T18:28:40","modified_gmt":"2021-05-12T22:28:40","slug":"endurance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/david-hilt\/2021\/05\/12\/endurance\/","title":{"rendered":"Endurance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"223\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/david-hilt\/files\/2021\/05\/image-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/david-hilt\/files\/2021\/05\/image-2.png 170w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/david-hilt\/files\/2021\/05\/image-2-84x110.png 84w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 170px) 100vw, 170px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Endurance\u2026&nbsp; <\/strong>I\u2019m guessing everyone has a heightened threshold of endurance these days, what with the ongoing challenges of the pandemic.&nbsp; Endurance and hardship seem synonymous in missions although a lot of people think missionaries are \u2018special people\u2019 and handle difficulties in a saintly way.&nbsp; While we do our utmost to keep our eyes on Jesus, hardships do press in upon us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ve been following a number of our missionary teams and what they are enduring.&nbsp; In addition to the stressors of living abroad, adjustments to an unfamiliar language &amp; culture, the people, and a lot of other oddities, many of our co-laborers are burdened for loved ones back home.&nbsp; \u2013An aging, struggling loved one; a sibling dealing with life threatening cancer or addictions; another with a brain tumor; loss of employment; sadness &amp; depression.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These things take a toll on you when you\u2019re not present to journey with a loved one.&nbsp; We\u2019re not living abroad any longer but we <em>are<\/em> distanced from loved ones back east.&nbsp; Like I was telling someone recently, \u201csometimes we feel like we have a target on our back for hardships although we know God is always looking out for us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Such things put me in mind of Jesus asking his disciples to watch and pray while he was agonizing before the cross.&nbsp; We are continually asking people to uphold specific prayer needs related to life and ministry.&nbsp; We certainly feel unworthy asking for prayer for ourselves as we know many others are enduring things far greater than our experiences with difficulties.&nbsp; Nice to know we are called to bear one another\u2019s burdens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right now, would you pause and pray for those serving in hard places around the world?
