Graduation! May 18th, 2013 brought caps and gowns galore, family members traveling in for the big event, staff rushing and bustling around trying to get everything together so everything goes without a hitch. What an exciting day! We made some great friends in the Senior Class, there were almost 60 students total in the class all ranging from ages 20-30ish, some with several kids, some newly married and others having come straight from high school and wondering what’s next. They all have this in common: They all want to serve the Lord with their lives and they’re all asking Him what comes next, ready to say “Yes” to whatever He asks.
Because of this, David and I have agreed that we have been spoiled by these New Tribes Bible Institute graduations because of what it means. Not that other college graduations sending off students prepared to be doctors, teachers, lawyers or social workers aren’t so very important, they are! But getting a chance to know these students and their hearts, their willingness to go on and do whatever it takes to bring the knowledge of God’s grace and sacrifice to others…there’s just something truly remarkable about seeing Christ pour out of individuals who are starving to grow in truth and show that truth to others.
We said goodbye to some great people, some we’ll see soon as they’re returning to intern at the school or their church here in Michigan. But some we’ve said goodbye to who we’re not exactly sure when we will see them again. Funny thing about missionaries, we’re all over the place!:)
Be praying for these men and women! Some of whom are going on to continue training with NTM, some are returning home, or going to get jobs somewhere; but all of these guys are growing in the Lord, and will make a difference for Christ wherever He leads them! Praise the Lord!
