December 1991 Simbari Survey

December 15, 1991 by David and Shari Ogg

Merry Christmas

From the Ogg Family to you!

David, Shari, Esther & Simon

Our Cargo has arrived:

After 5 months on the field we finally received our cargo. When it arrived in PNG a company would not allow us to claim it. Because of a bankruptcy they had not been paid and were demanding repayment by us – nearly $2000.00! We did not pay it and the cargo was released after 3 weeks. Thank you for your prayers for this.

More news:

We are moving right along on our trade language studies and we expect to be finishing our course by the end of January. Soon we will be attending our annual regional conference in Goroka and we are really looking forward to our first conference since being in Papua New Guinea.

 Please Pray For:

  • Trade language learning
  • $5000-$10000 for house building.
  • Volunteers from the U.S. to help with building our house

Simbari Survey:

With half a dozen slippery log bridges and 3 hours of hard hiking in mountainous jungle behind us we looked down on a rugged gorge with a large river tumbling through the middle of the village. Simon, Esther, Shari and I and some people helping us carry our stuff all proceeded down a steep hill to the village. What were we doing in such a place? The Lord had given us a desire to work among the Simbari people. So we came to talk with Dennis and Jeanne Best who are already working with the Simbari. We also surveyed the valley and new airstrip location. We are pleased to announce that we are teaming up with the Bests to see the Simbari Tribe reached with the Gospel. Before we move there we first must build homes at the new airstrip. We hope to begin building in March or April. More later!
