Merry Christmas
From David and Shari Ogg
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Matt 1:23
Simbari Tractor
In His time, God has provided a tractor for the Simbari work. For many years we have been praying for a tractor to maintain the Simbari airstrip. The airstrip is our gateway to the rest of the world. We use it for getting our supplies and for travelling in and out of the tribe. The tractor will help us to complete maintenance on the half-mile long airstrip in a fraction of the time it used to. Friends of NTM is selling us the tractor at about half of its current value. It is a used Kubota 2350 4WD with about 1000 hours on it. We thank the Lord for answering our prayers. If you would like to make a contribution towards the cost of shipping it to Papua New Guinea, you can do so by sending it to our mission agency designated: “for David & Shari Ogg – Simbari Tractor Acct.” We are not sure how many of you were praying with us, but to all of you, and to those of you who gave financially — Thank you very much.
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” Phil. 4:19
Drought in PNG
As you celebrate this Christmas please pray for those in Asia stricken by famine. The worst drought anyone in PNG can remember has been affecting the Simbari too. Our co-worker, Dennis Best, told us the normally muddy ground has deep cracks everywhere. The peoples’ gardens are drying up and the people are rationing their existing food to the point that some of the children go around crying because of hunger. Missionaries in PNG have been very active in disaster relief during this drought. We have heard that there has been some rain recently but please pray that there will be consistent rain because it takes months before new gardens can start producing food and the drought is truly over. Please pray also that many would develop a spiritual hunger for the truth as a result of their physical hunger.
Prayer Points:
- Finances to ship tractor to PNG
- Food and consistent rain for the Simbari
- Plane tickets to return to PNG in July ’98
- David as he edits a video report of our ministry
- Shari homeschooling Esther and Simon
