The ‘faithful’
Some have expressed surprise at the lack of interest in the teaching among so many of the Simbaris. To be honest we also had hoped for a better turnout for the teaching. But after thinking more about it we are not surprised anymore. If you were to hold a Bible study and invite everyone in your neighborhood, how many do you really think would turn up? Well, what we are doing here is not that much different, so we are content with those whom the Lord has drawn to His Word. These ‘faithful’ attendees have learned so much about God’s character, man’s sin and it’s punishment, and the only way to please God being to come to Him in faith with a blood sacrifice. Soon they will hear how God’s Son offered His own blood as our sacrifice. We believe that God has chosen some of these to be the future ‘faithful’ who will pass this good news on to others and so on and so on.
Progress
Despite the setbacks caused by rain and other community projects, the teaching is progressing. How exciting is was to teach John’s announcement,
“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29
Also David is finishing the translation of selected New Testament verses that go with the Bible Lessons. About 1 more week and those selected verses should be done. That will leave the book of Mark about half done. After finishing those selected verses he will continue translating the rest of the book of Mark.
In Him,

Praise and Prayer:
- Keep praying for the mornings to be rain-free.
- Pray that the people would NOT think like the pharisees (“I’m not a sinner like other ‘bad’ people”)
- Pray for people to believe that without God’s Deliverer they have no hope of escaping the punishment of sin.
- Praise that our co-worker Lori Morley is back. The doctor was not able to diagnose her problem but her pain subsided so she came back to the tribe. She and Shari will team teach the literacy classes so Shari can continue to be involved.
