Old Testament Translation check
We are very happy to report that our Old Testament scripture portions that we have been translating into the Simbari language have now been checked. The portions checked included much of Genesis and Exodus. Also included were many other verses including Messianic prophesies and also the book of Jonah. (This is in addition to the book of Mark which we have already translated.) These are all needed for teaching chronologically through the Bible to present the Gospel. The checks went well and finished well ahead of schedule. We also learned a lot that will that will help us as we begin to translate more difficult books of the New Testament. Thanks so much for praying. Now as we begin teaching new outreaches with this translation pray that God would touch the hearts of many Simbaris as they hear the truth.
Trailer for airstrip work
Our airstrip closure has sure made life interesting. PNG is often called, “The Land of the Unexpected” and how true it is! We have been using a helicopter for a couple months now and will continue to do so until airstrip repairs are completed. The Simbaris have been stripping off the soft sod in preparation for laying down a layer of clay down the middle of the airstrip to raise up the middle so the water can run off. We have just heard that a short-term mission team has volunteered to come over for up to 6 weeks to help us and the Simbaris to do the needed repairs so that the airstrip can be reopened as soon as possible. To help speed up the work our Highlands support team out in Goroka pre-fabricated a trailer for us to use with our tractor to haul clay. When we came back from our translation check in town the trailer parts came in on the helicopter.
