Shari’s Greece Trip Summary
What an amazing time our team had in Greece last month. We were able to hold the first two days of refugee family camp in the shade of an olive grove. I had taken my ukulele, and another team member had taken his guitar, so we were able to play and sing some songs while the families were gathering. We were also able to join the Farsi worship team, playing softly on the sideline. The mornings were taken up with Bible teaching for the adults, teens, and children, while our team helped with childcare, preparing meals, lifeguarding the adults and children while they swam in the ocean, etc. It was such a blessing for our team to meet and serve alongside the full-time Hellenic Ministries staff as well as another great team from Tennessee. I was amazed to meet a lady who lives and serves full-time in Greece, and to find out that she had been to PNG over 20 years ago and had visited our Simbari village. Amazing how many connections there are in the family of God! The last two days of camp were held at a different location by the beach about an hour from Athens. It was so special for us to be able to stay there with the refugee families, and a real treat for them not to have to travel back and forth from the refugee camp as the previous two days. I had also taken some crafts for the women and girls, so was able to do that with them for two afternoons. Thank you so much for your prayers, and please continue to pray for those who heard the gospel and experienced the love of Christ, that many would trust in Him as their Savior. Doctor for PNG
The field of PNG is in need of a doctor to meet the medical needs of missionaries, their families and others. Staying long-term on the field is difficult for missionaries when there isn’t good medical care available. Please pray for Sam Kang and his family who are hoping to meet this need beginning in August. What a blessing it has been to get to know them. Next Trip to PNG
After talking with the field we are planning our next trip to PNG for February 2027. We are hopeful that our Simbari coworker, Raymond, will be done with the audio Bible recordings by then so we can pick up the files to take home for processing. We also plan to do comprehension checking on the outstanding chapters of the Genesis translation. Pray for us as we start the process of applying for visas and booking tickets etc. Thanks!
