Greetings from the USA! We recently returned from Papua New Guinea for a one year home assignment. On the way travelling through the capital city of Port Moresby a bunch of Simbari believers came to greet us at the airport (pictured above). It was nice to see them and hear that they are meeting together for teaching and worship even though they are away from their homes in the tribe. We also got a chance to talk to a Bible teacher named Rison who is still in the village and he said all is well but they had been feeling a “heavy”. When we first heard this we thought it was something bad but then he said that “before they had been living in darkness but we had brought them the Light so now that we were gone they were really missing us.” They said the believers in the tribe have been spending extra time with each other for encouragement and are no longer feeling “heavy”. We were glad to hear but we ask you to pray for them.
On the way home we had a layover in Hawaii where some of David’s family met us for a vacation. After that we were busy moving in and then we took a trip up to Hume Lake to see Esther and Simon who are working there. It was wonderful to be together again as a family after 3 years apart. But we had to say goodbye again 🙁 and come back down to Santa Clarita where we will be spending most of our home assignment. The day after getting back to Santa Clarita both David and Rachel had all their wisdom teeth removed. That was only a couple days ago so they still have sore mouths. We have quite a bit of dental and medical work to get caught up on after a 5 year term in the jungles of New Guinea. We are also settling into our “new” house just up the street from David’s parents. It’s been under renovation and is really coming along but still needs some things done. If you’d like to call or stop by and say “Hi” you can contact us using the link above.
We will be taking Rachel out to Wisconsin where she be attending Bible college. We will also be visiting friends, family and supporters along the way including a visit to Shari’s family in Florida. We’re looking forward to seeing you and sharing about what God has been doing in the Simbari tribe of Papua New Guinea.
