What does it mean to walk by faith and not by sight? To live with eyes of faith?
I have shared a couple of posts in my study in the life of Christ. From the last 2 posts, it has been interesting to contrast the story of the Royal Official whose son was sick (John 4:43-43) and the people of Nazareth’s rejection of Jesus (Luke 4:14-31). The Royal Official saw God work, once he believed Jesus’ Word. While the people of Nazareth failed to see Jesus as the Son of God, and therefore could not see the work of God through Him.
In our Bible reading today we read Psalm 9. A couple verses stuck out to me. Verse 10 says, “Those who KNOW YOUR NAME trust in you.” When we truly know God, we will trust Him implicitly. That is what it means to see through eyes of faith.
Verse 1 said, “I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all your wonderful deeds.” But, if we are not looking at life through the eyes of faith, we will not see God at work… kindof like the people of Nazareth. In order to recount his wonderful works, we have to be able to see him at work in and around us. Which goes along with the idea of practicing the presence of God. Believing God is at work, looking for the evidence of him in our lives, would be acknowledging his presence with us
God calls us to take him at his word. Believe first, then watch and see the work that He does through our lives. Do you believe that He wants to use your life to display His character? Do you believe that, like 1 John 4:12 says, as you love others, His love is seen through you? The motivation for living a Christ like life is so that we can see Him at work through us. That’s what Galatians 2:20 is all about. “This life that I live, I live by the power of Christ in me.” “For me to live is Christ.” (Phil 1:21)
Practical examples
- God wants to use us to minister in the lives of these e2 students. When that gets difficult, and we either feel like we aren’t doing any good, or working with someone who is difficult… walking by faith is believing that God IS going to use our lives to impact theirs.
- I am here as an instrument in their lives. God has a message for them through me.
- Solomon’s wisdom… James 1 Wisdom… ask God and he will give it….
Anyway, that’s a few thoughts… well maybe more than a few thoughts. But, I hope it was encouraging.
This is my prayer today.
