Devotional Thoughts
David reminds himself that God’s plan IS always the best plan. God has committed to guide you along the best pathway for your life. Like the good shepherd in Psalm 23.. beside still waters, and in green pastures. Hannah Whital Smith describes this diea as God’s green pastures which, “for some may be amidst earthly trials and difficulties… but you will be made strong by feeding in them.”
Don’t be like the senseless horse… you need to be absolutely convinced that what God is doing is the very best… Paul’s encouragement in Rom 14:7 whether you live or die, it doesn’t really matter because your life is meant to honor God. What ever path God takes you on, you can be sure, since he is the one who lead you there, that your life will honor him because of it… as long as we walk with him in the midst of the valley!
Interesting Psalm 23 David says, “Your rod and your staff they comfort me..” What is the rod and staff for? Correction… putting the staff around the neck and dragging them from danger!
What peace we could have in life if we believed these words! “I WILL GUIDE YOU along the BEST PATHWAY for your life! (Ps 32:8) If we do, David says we will find ourselves “surrounded by his unfailing love.”
Just like we saw in Psalm 31:20-21 “You hide them in the shelter of your presence, safe from those who conspire against them. You shelter them in your presence far from accusing tongues. Praise the Lord, for he has shown me the wonders of his unfailing love.” When we rest under the shelter of his presence, with absolute confidence he is taking us down the best pathway for life. The result will be we will discover that under it all are the wonders of his unfailing love! What a beautiful picture!
