Our Reading: Matt 9:27-34
Our Reality:
What if God’s actions were dependent on your faith? How much would He be able to work? 3 years ago, our mission flight program here in PNG was falling apart. We were down to 1 pilot and just a couple of mechanics. Aviation fuel was becoming more and more difficult to get, and so we began praying for a new airplane, but after a couple years of raising funds we had barely raised 10% of the $2.5 Million that was needed. One of our missionaries petitioned to all of us to seriously start praying, and even fast if we felt led. I was pessimistic and doubtful.
Today, God has provided not 1, but 3 new aircraft. We now have 6 full time pilots and almost as many mechanics. “Oh ye of little faith.”
Our Responsibility: (Observe, Reflect, Discuss)
When the 2 blind men came to Jesus to be healed, He asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” What do you observe in regards to your own faith? Take a few minutes to reflect on this question; How much does what you know about God’s character and power effect how you live out your faith?
Faith is never demonstrated by how much I do for God! Faith is only demonstrated by what God does. I am living out my faith to the degree that I believe God is able and I step back and rest in Him to do it.
Jesus told those 2 blind men, “According to your faith will it be done to you.”
Our Response: (Plan, Be Accountable, Act) Restfully Available, Instantly Obedient.
What areas do you need to grow in faith? Finances and giving? Ministry and missions? Evangelism and sharing your faith? What steps can you plan to take today to move toward growth in faith in that area? When are you going to do that?
Our Request:
Confess your lack of faith Praise him for his forgiveness and tell him you are resolved to trust Him more fully.
Pour out your heart, ask Him to grow your faith. What could God do if you had the faith to believe Him to do it? Ask Him for that kind of faith.
Thank Him for working in spite of your faith, but also thank Him for what He is going to do because of your faith!
