When you read verses like Psalm 32:7 where David says, \u201cYou are my hiding place,\u201d what comes to mind for you? How can God be a place of refuge? David says, \u201cYou hide them in the shelter of your presence.. you shelter them in your presence…\u201d (Ps 31:20) How is God\u2019s presence a shelter? And how do we get there?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I love how David describes this place. Psalm 61:2-3 He describes a towering rock of safety. Like a plateau that stands high above your enemies. A refuge, a fortress, where your enemies cannot reach you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Psalm 31:5 David describes how he finds himself in the fortress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He says, \u201cI entrust my spirit into your hand.\u201d Then he calls upon God\u2019s faithfulness to rescue him and keep him there. Psalm 31:8 he says, \u201cYou have not handed me over to my enemies, but have set me in a safe place.\u201d (Ps 31:20) \u201cYou hide me in the shelter of your presence\u2026 you shelter me in your presence, far from accusing tongues.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is a place the David goes in his mind! It\u2019s a place David goes to often. Psalm 18:1-3 I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies. (NLT)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I pray today that my readers will find you to be their refuge, the high tower they can go to to find rest and peace from whatever they are facing today. I pray they will find you to be their rock!
