Decisions made with prayer and conviction can still lead to criticism, rejection, and deep discouragement. David knew this pain. After being rejected by Achish’s army, he and his men returned home only to find their city burned and their families taken. Grief turned to rage. His men—once loyal—spoke of stoning him. David was “in great danger.” Emotional trauma, loss, and fear collided.
