With our gov rep&#8217;s departure, I\u2019ve had to learn his role, train others, and manage the facility in Port Moresby\u2014all while continuing my director responsibilities. I thank God for 2 PNGian employees, who have taken on much of the work, yet as I left POM I lay awake worrying: Did I miss something? Will they manage? What happens when one of them has to leave? The waves of anxiety were crashing in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reading:<\/strong> Psalm 93<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Verse:<\/strong> <em>Psalm 93:4<\/em> \u2014 \u201cMightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore\u2014the LORD above is mightier than these!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scripture Insight:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resilience practice for this week is <em>Broaden and Build<\/em>. Negative emotions narrow our thinking, but positive emotions broaden our perspective and help us build resilience. As I lay awake, filled with \u201cwhat ifs,\u201d God used the words of Psalm 93 to broaden my perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Psalm 93 David broadens his perspective and builds his resilience,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>\u201cThe LORD is king\u2026 armed with strength\u201d<\/em> (v.1). Even when my world feels shaky, His throne is secure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cYour throne has stood from time eternal\u201d<\/em> (v.2). Nothing has ever conquered Him.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cThe floods have risen up\u201d<\/em> (v.3). God sometimes allows the waters to rise, but He uses them to teach us trust.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While floods do rise and waves do pound, the Lord still reigns.<em> \u201cThe LORD above is mightier than these\u201d<\/em> (v.4). He walks on the waves and invites us to rest in His power.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As I took time to STOP, and pray, I breathed in, <em>\u201cGod, You are my refuge and strength\u201d<\/em> and breathed out <em>\u201cYou are mightier than these waves,\u201d<\/em> I found rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When anxiety rises, broaden your perspective by remembering God\u2019s faithfulness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Replace \u201cwhat ifs\u201d with \u201cGod is.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practice breathing prayer: inhale His strength, exhale His sovereignty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Broaden your view and rest in the truth that He is above the waves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prayer:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord, when the waves crash and I feel overwhelmed, remind me that You are mightier than these. Lift my eyes beyond the circumstances, broaden my perspective, and teach me to rest in Your strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reflection Questions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What waves are crashing over you right now?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can you broaden your perspective to see God\u2019s faithfulness?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What simple prayer can you breathe in and out today to rest in Him?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Brothers and Sisters, These past two weeks have been overwhelming.
