{"id":1968,"date":"2026-01-11T14:28:48","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T04:28:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/david-watters\/?p=1968"},"modified":"2026-01-11T14:28:50","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T04:28:50","slug":"wake-up-to-his-strength","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/david-watters\/2026\/01\/11\/wake-up-to-his-strength\/","title":{"rendered":"Wake Up to His Strength"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reading:<\/strong> Isaiah 51-52:1; Psalm 118; Psalm 56<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key Verse:<\/strong> <em>Isaiah 52:6<\/em> \u2014 \u201cI will reveal my name to my people, and they will come to know its power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Personal Reflection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There must have been many in Israel who complained about the suffering they were experiencing. God was judging them as a nation\u2014just as He said He would. King after king rejected Him, leading the people deeper into rebellion. They were receiving exactly what God had warned them about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And yet\u2014even in judgment\u2014God assures them He has not forgotten them. <em>\u201cCan a mother forget her nursing child? \u2026 Even if she could, I will not forget you! I have written your name on the palms of my hands.\u201d<\/em> (Isaiah 49:14\u201315)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God\u2019s heart was not to destroy them but to draw them back. He longed for them to believe Him, walk with Him, and become a showcase of His glory. So Isaiah cries out: <em>\u201cWake up! Clothe yourself with strength!\u201d<\/em> (Isaiah 52:1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God\u2019s power had not diminished. He was still the God who dried up the Red Sea, who crushed Egypt, who rescued His people with an outstretched arm. He wanted them to know His power\u2014not just in their theology, but in their lived experience. But they needed to trust Him. <em>\u201cThen at last they will recognize that I am the one who speaks to them.\u201d<\/em> (Isaiah 52:6)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture Insight<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Isaiah calls Israel to remember their roots: <em>\u201cConsider the rock from which you were cut.\u201d<\/em> (Isaiah 51:1) The God who acted in the past had not changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He reminds them: <em>\u201cI, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans?\u201d<\/em> (Isaiah 51:12\u201313)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scripture repeats this theme everywhere:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>\u201cDon\u2019t put your trust in humans.\u201d<\/em> (Isaiah 2:22)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cCursed are those who rely on human strength.\u201d<\/em> (Jeremiah 17:5)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cThe Lord is for me\u2014what can mere men do to me?\u201d<\/em> (Psalm 118:6)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cI trust God\u2026 what can people do to me?\u201d<\/em> (Psalm 56:4, 11; Hebrews 13:6)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jesus Himself said, <em>\u201cDon\u2019t fear those who can kill the body\u2026 you are more valuable than sparrows.\u201d<\/em> (Luke 12:4\u20137)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God continues: <em>\u201cI am the LORD your God, who stirs up the sea\u2026 I have put my words in your mouth and hidden you safely in my hand.\u201d<\/em> (Isaiah 51:15\u201316). Even His discipline had a purpose:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>For His people:<\/strong> <em>\u201cThen you will know that I am the LORD. Those who trust in Me will never be put to shame.\u201d<\/em> (Isaiah 49:23)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For the world:<\/strong> <em>\u201cAll the world will know that I am your Savior and Redeemer.\u201d<\/em> (Isaiah 49:26)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God\u2019s goal was always restoration, recognition, and relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wake up to God\u2019s strength\u2014He has not changed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refuse to fear human circumstances; anchor yourself in God\u2019s comfort.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remember the \u201crock from which you were cut\u201d\u2014God\u2019s past faithfulness fuels present trust.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Believe that even in discipline or difficulty, God is drawing you back to Himself so that you will experience the power of His name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Prayer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Father, wake me up to Your strength. Help me stop fearing people and start trusting You. Remind me of who You are\u2014the God who parts seas, comforts His people, and never forgets His own. Let Your Word become my anchor, Your presence my comfort, and Your power my confidence. May my life reveal that You alone are Savior and Redeemer.
