One thing he said that is so true. “Many will say experience is the best teacher. But actually, it’s only evaluated experience that teaches us.” In order for experience to help us, it must be evaluated. We must take the time to reflect in order to learn from something. He encourages us to stop at the end of every day and ask ourselves;

What did I learn today?

Where do I need to grow with this knowledge?

Who needs to learn this from me?

John Maxwell actually encourages a time of reflection daily, monthly and annually, in order to see significant growth in our lives.

In Psalm 145 it shows that David had a habit of regular reflection. He says, “Every day I will bless you…” As he spent time every day reflecting and worshipping God, he too was challenged to pass on what he was learning / seeing from God. In fact he said, “One generation shall commend your works to another” Here’s a few things he wanted passed on.

Ps 145:4 They shall declare your mighty acts

Ps 145:6 They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds

Ps 145:7 They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant greatness

Ps 145:11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power

Looking at David’s reflections, I wonder what David’s questions for reflection were each day?

What can I praise God for today?

What might works did I see, or did God remind me of today?
