There have been many questions that we have asked of God through prayer during this time home from Senegal. Even though God does not have a billboard out in front of our house to reveal His will for our lives he has given us His word. We believe God has called us to go to Senegal, now we have to trust Him for the details. We have seen how God has used events in our lives to shape us and prepare us for future ministry.
Through talking with the pastor of our home church and NTM Senegal leadership, and much prayer and Bible study, we have made the decision to return to Senegal the first week of January 2010. The main reason for this is to allow more time to raise the necessary prayer and financial support needed to work in Senegal. A secondary reason is to get Levi more help with speech therapy. He is making good progress and we are praying that he will make enough progress to be able to transition to Senegal without regressing. Another reason is that Dean won’t need to take over the administrative assistant responsibilities until January. There is a lot of work for him to do at the NTM mobilization center in Jersey Shore during this interim period. In the meantime we have also decided to apply for Trudy’s citizenship and are on track to finish the process by December.
Trudy has been busy taking care of the children and the home. Dean has been working hard at the New Tribes Mission mobilization center in Jersey Shore. He has been able to do grounds-keeping, vehicle maintenance, and drywall, as well as other jobs. We are involved in our local church, hospitality and neighborhood outreach. Dean finished the accounting classes that he needed and is now able to focus on partnership development. We’ve been encouraged by the direction the Mission is going in regards to partnership development. We feel like we have a lot more resource tools available to help us eg: a ministry website, facebook, etc. We also feel more freedom to share and are enthusiastic about giving people an opportunity to worship God and lay up treasure in heaven through their support of us. Thank you so much to all those who have faithfully prayed for us in the area of partnership development.
