We arrived safely in Florida last Monday and had a whirlwind week of meetings, visiting with new and old friends, and looking at schools, houses and neighborhoods. It was inspiring to have a tour of the home office and see what a tremendous blessing this facility and it’s staff are to the New Tribes community.
Our initial reaction to the job description of the available ministry position was muted as it was not quite what we were expecting. As we had time to process the information and get a feel for the big picture it became clear that Dean and our family would be very well suited for the position. It was also made clear that we are wanted and really needed to fill this place. The schooling situation for the kids seems satisfactory. The biggest hurdle to overcome seems to be to find a house. At the end of the week we had come to the conclusion that Florida would be a definite possibility for our next place of service. We were humbled by the excellent care and joyful service we received during our stay. What a delight it will be to serve together with these dear brothers and sisters in Christ. We are both excited and daunted by this prospect. It is a big commitment to move our family and buy a house. Thank you so much for praying for us. We also owe a huge debt of thanks to our friends who took care of our children during the week we were away.
The month of April we plan to meet with our church leadership to discuss the situation with them and seek their direction. If all goes well Dean would like to return to Florida the first week of May in order to choose a house and then start the purchase process. We would greatly appreciate your prayers in this next month as we seek Gods will.
