Land of the Alligator and the Pink flamingo

August 16, 2010 by Dean Hess

Hess family FL Aug 10Hello family and friends,

We wanted to give you all a quick update. We arrived in Florida Wednesday July 28. It has taken us almost 3 weeks to get the kids registered at school, change over phone, electricity, water, drivers licenses, car registration and all the other paperwork stuff. A necessary evil. Dean found a good deal on a Ford Escort station wagon this past weekend. Dean got car insurance, which is 3x as much as in PA; wow that was a shock. He also got a license plate and registration for it which cost almost $500. Despite all the running around, the expense and the back and forth, we praise God for providing for our every need. We are happy to finally be getting settled in.

The house is very nice. It is the nicest house we have ever lived in. It was wonderful to be able to walk in and have everything ready for us.

We’ve been to 2 churches so far. Both of the churches are good , I think we may have a hard time deciding where to go if they are all as good as the first 2. We’d appreciate your prayers about this.

The kids started school this week. Carissa in 3rd grade, Veronica in Kindergarten and Levi in Pre-Kindergarten. They seemed to enjoy their first day of school. We will see how it goes, we are praying that all will go well.

Dean will be starting orientation this week to start fitting into his ministry at the home office. We are trying to catch up on our letter writing and other stuff this week as well, it will probably take us 2 or 3 weeks to get caught up.

Thank you for praying for us, we could not serve God full time without you. God bless you all.
