The beginning of our trip down to the south island.

July 23, 2012 by Dean Hess

It was a really wet, cold day when we left. The desert road was treacherous, it actually snowed and everything was shrouded in mist. We were in the path of a squall all the way to Masterton. These photos are all that I remembered to take of our time in Masterton. We felt an earthquake while we were there; Dean says he heard it as well as felt it; I only felt the last tremor. Our friends kindly organized a small group meeting on the Wednesday night which just happened to be the 4th of July. Caroline invited some American friends from church to share dinner with us which was really lovely. The only thing missing was the fireworks display!
