And which jobs we are covering all depends on which ones of our coworkers are currently on home assignment.\u00a0You can see that it gets complicated. \u00a0And this year it&#8217;s different again, because we have a lull in new missionaries coming to the field (this is the first time that&#8217;s happened since we&#8217;ve been in this ministry.) \u00a0So we&#8217;re working on more long-term projects.<\/p>\n<p>All that to say, I figured I&#8217;d attempt\u00a0a summary of what a week might look like for us. \u00a0Here&#8217;s the first installment (from last week, Feb. 27-Mar.5):<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mon, Feb 27<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>morning<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>DJ&#8211;teach a weekly chronological Bible lesson to 5 guys who have asked to study the Bible. \u00a0Check on the housing\/maintenance workers he oversees.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer&#8211;secretary and consultant &#8220;office&#8221; Jennifer&#8211;weekly team meeting at Bill &amp; Rosie (coworkers&#8217;) house<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tues., Feb. 28<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>morning<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>DJ&#8211;checking on the workers he supervises (this is pretty much daily), &#8220;office&#8221; work (taxes, e-mails, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer&#8211;to a language &amp; culture student&#8217;s house to give a stage 2 language evaluation. \u00a0Amy has been here for almost a year now, and will be moving on to another island soon to continue language and culture study and then go into a tribal ministry.<\/p>\n<p><em>afternoon<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>DJ&#8211;more office work, chauffeuring Areli and Galilee\u00a0to a class event, and running errands downtown.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer&#8211;write a report of Amy&#8217;s evaluation results, including her current language level and direction for how to continue to make progress. \u00a0Meet with Amy to give her the report of her progress and explain in person our recommendations for her continuing language study. \u00a0Then after that we hung out in the evening\u00a0to celebrate her completion of stage 2. \ud83d\ude42<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-398 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/dj-searcy\/files\/2017\/03\/DSCN3688-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/dj-searcy\/files\/2017\/03\/DSCN3688-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/dj-searcy\/files\/2017\/03\/DSCN3688-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/dj-searcy\/files\/2017\/03\/DSCN3688-600x450.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wed, Mar. 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>morning<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>DJ&#8211;to the airport 1 1\/2 hours away to pick up coworkers who are coming back to take care of their household and say goodbye to their friends here before relocating to a ministry in the USA. \u00a0Their heart is still to be here, but ongoing health problems mean that they can&#8217;t live here anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer&#8211;to another family&#8217;s house to give a stage 2 evaluation along with Greg, my coworker in the language consultant ministry. \u00a0During an evaluation, the language student\/s (Jae and Enoch, in this case, each taking a turn) interacts with a native speaker and we observe and take notes. \u00a0The student is given a number of things to talk about based on their current language stage.<\/p>\n<p><em>afternoon<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>DJ&#8211;more office work, and checking on the workers<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer&#8211;Rosie, our coworker, and I are doing a Bible study on the book of James. \u00a0This was our first week.<br \/>\n<strong>Thurs, Mar. 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>morning<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>DJ&#8211;to the big city again (1 1\/2 hours away) for a skin doctor appointment.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer&#8211;write a report of Enoch&#8217;s language evaluation, explaining her current level and giving recommendations for her continued studies. \u00a0(Greg wrote Jae&#8217;s report.) \u00a0Other consultant and secretary office work too. \u00a0Lunch with Amy to celebrate Texas Independence Day (she humors me, even though she isn&#8217;t from Texas.)<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-394 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/dj-searcy\/files\/2017\/03\/DSCN3765-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"202\" height=\"269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/dj-searcy\/files\/2017\/03\/DSCN3765-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/dj-searcy\/files\/2017\/03\/DSCN3765-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/dj-searcy\/files\/2017\/03\/DSCN3765-600x800.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 202px) 100vw, 202px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>afternoon<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>DJ&#8211;back from the city, more office work and checking on the workers.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer&#8212;along with Greg, met back with Jae &amp; Enoch to give them their evaluation results and direction for future studies. \u00a0They&#8217;ll be moving to another island soon too. \u00a0Then we also spent some time just visiting and finding out how they are doing. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fri, Mar. 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>morning<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>DJ&#8211;trip into town with our coworker, Bill, to take care of some team needs.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer&#8211;along with Greg, teach\u00a0a &#8220;kick-off&#8221;
