How do I power my laptop in a tribal location to develop lessons and learn language? How do we cook and get clean drinking water to keep us healthy? For the last two weeks Ernest Jones and Roland Shafer have given us great training and introduced us to amazing technology to answer these questions and many others. The NTM Tech Center researches and tests the best available equipment and makes it affordably accessible to missionaries. Some tools they build themselves with volunteer labor to make them practical and affordable for us wherever we serve.
One of these tools is the DC soldering pencil. Just attach the ground and the pencil to a 12 volt battery and the carbon tip makes fast heat when it touches your piece. Portable and powerful. I wish I had one of these when I was working on my RV on our road trip.
Here Sidney is giving DC soldering a try. He picked it up very quickly (and eagerly).
